The only thing is that you have to spray it with a protective clear coat before putting it outside, especially if you live in a wet climate. It started to rust almost immediately until the clear coat went on.As for being used as a heron deterrant around our fish pond, it worked-at first. The metal heron looks real enough to initially fool the herons. However, herons are smart and realized that this one didn't move. I will say that the picture and description led me to assume it would be more 3-D than it turned out to be. It consists essentially of two somewhat "cupped" halves joined together, so it looks pretty three dimensional in profile, but when seen edge-on the illusion is diminished. Even so, with careful placement it is attractive, and the real heron hasn't come back so far. |
